Meet the Business Office - The business office plays a vital role in the smooth operation of Joplin Area Catholic Schools (JACS). While much of the work happens behind the scenes, the impact of our team is felt throughout our school community. Their expertise ensures that our schools are financially healthy, well-maintained, compliant, and growing into the future to ensure the JACS legacy lives on in our community for years to come. Following you will find an overview of the key responsibilities within our business office.
Director - Jess Sickman nurtures a vibrant faith community, aligning with the Church’s mission of teaching truth, fostering community, and serving others. Jess provides leadership and vision, overseeing strategic planning, recruitment, and system operations to advance the mission of JACS. She manages the budget and works closely with the finance committee and school advisory board. Collaborating closely with the administrative team, Jess ensures the seamless coordination of school activities, supports staff development, and manages admissions and enrollment. As the public spokesperson for JACS, Jess actively promotes Catholic education, builds community relationships, and works to recruit and retain students. HR/Operations - Darren Cook manages both Human Resources and Operations at JACS. In HR, Darren oversees the onboarding process, manages employee benefits, administers payroll, and maintains accurate employee records. On the operations side, Darren collaborates with the director to develop and implement policies, manages day-to-day office administration, and oversees tuition and scholarship processes. Additionally, Darren provides essential support to employees, parents, and families, ensuring the smooth functioning and overall success of the system including the use of FACTS. Bookkeeper - Kathy Patton is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial transactions of JACS. Her role includes processing invoices, managing accounts payable and receivable, and maintaining accurate financial records. Kathy also assists in preparing monthly and annual financial reports, providing essential data that supports budgeting and financial planning. kpatton@jacschools.org)
Advancement - Marjorie Comer is responsible for fundraising and development activities that support JACS. This includes annual giving campaigns, event sponsorships, and cultivating relationships with donors and alumni. Marjorie works to advance the culture of giving within our community, ensuring that JACS has the financial resources to thrive now, and in the future, to continue our mission of providing Catholic education in our community. Technology - Doretta Fox manages all technology-related functions within the JACS system. This includes maintaining the school’s computer networks, troubleshooting technical issues, and overseeing the integration of new technologies into the classroom. Doretta also works to ensure that our technology infrastructure is secure and up-to-date, providing students and staff with the tools they need to succeed. (dfox@jacschools.org)
Office Location & Hours - The JACS Business Office is located in the St. Peter’s Middle School building at 931 S. Beyers, Joplin, MO 64801. We welcome visitors during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm. You can reach the business office by calling 417-624-5003.
Business Office Open House - Join us on Thursday, September 26, 2024 between 3-6pm for an open house. Visit the business office, meet the team, and tour the building. Drinks and refreshments will be served.
